Junior explorer Alto Metals (ASX: AME) is continuing to unearth thick, high-grade gold mineralisation during drilling of the Lord Nelson deposit within its flagship Sandstone gold project in Western Australia.

The latest assays from the ongoing major drilling program include a highlight intercept of 67 metres at 2.3 grams per tonne gold from a depth of 172m. This included a higher grade 6m intersection grading 5.4g/t gold from 179m.

Other significant results from extensional reverse circulation drilling below the Lord Nelson pit were: 19m at 1.5g/t gold from 185m, including 1m at 17.8g/t; 12m at 1.4g/t gold from 50m including 1m at 10.2g/t; and 11m at 1g/t gold from 84m.

The hole that returned the stand-out 67m intercept had followed up on a previous hole that returned 45m at 3.2g/t gold from 161m and has extended thick high-grade mineralisation a further 20m down dip.

Today’s results follow the explorer’s recent update of its open pit gold resource to 635,000 ounces.

Alto managing director Matthew Bowles said the assays demonstrate the significant growth potential of the Lords Corridor and the Sandstone project in its entirety.

Assays pending from Juno Lode

Assays are currently pending for a further 5,025m of RC drilling including at the Juno Lode about 600m south of Lord Nelson.

Mr Bowles said these assays are “eagerly anticipated, as they targeted the up and down dip extensions of the new lode”.

“We will then be looking to test deeper primary targets within the Lords Corridor,” he added.

Drilling underway at Indomitable

Meanwhile, drilling is underway at the Indomitable Camp, within the 20km northwest/southeast Indomitable/Vanguard/Havilah trend. Results from this drilling will form part of an updated mineral resource planned for the second half of 2022.

Alto kicked off the Sandstone project’s major drilling program at the start of March.

A total 60,000m of drilling is planned, targeting both resource growth and exploration with a focus on existing resources and a number of advanced regional prospects.
