Junior explorer Recharge Metals (ASX: REC) has identified broad zones of nickel in drilling at the Brandy Hill South project in Western Australia.
The company reported “encouraging” assays for two diamond holes where the nickel mineralisation is believed to be associated with the regional Salt Creek Shear and hosted in ultramafic rocks.
Deeper zones in both holes also returned significant widths of silver mineralisation and multiple narrow occurrences of copper.
Highlight results in hole BHRCD018 were 42.1m at 0.26% nickel from 96.9m; and 29m at 0.21% nickel from 144m.
Hole BHRCD019 returned 10m at 0.25% nickel from 92m; and 57m at 0.25% nickel from 109m.
Other notable mineralised intercepts from both holes were 6m at 0.31% copper from 141m; 119m at 1.3 grams per tonne silver from 257m, including 1m at 13g/t silver; 10m at 0.41% copper from 171mm, including 1.2m at 1.72% copper; and 234m at 1.5g/t silver from 159m, including 1.2m at 18g/t silver.
Given the significant nickel results identified in these holes, Recharge conducted a review of previous reverse circulation holes and identified similar nickel mineralisation.
The review returned highlights of 62m at 0.29% nickel from 40m, including 1m at 1.31% nickel; 8m at 0.44% nickel from 56m; and 34m at 0.45% nickel from 56m.
Pleasant surprise
Recharge managing director Brett Wallace said the mineralisation was a “pleasant surprise” given the company’s copper focus.
“We are very excited to report multiple zones of copper and broad zones of silver intercepts, as well as thick, shallow intercepts of nickel mineralisation from the two remaining diamond holes,” he said.
“We are also very pleased that nickel is present at high grades in the reverse circulation pre-collar holes and three other holes in proximity to the Salt Creek Shear … when the pre-collars and diamond tails are considered in continuity, both holes comprise over 100m of nickel at highly significant grades and from shallower depths.”
